Faculty of Architecture exhibits ideas for the improvement of scenarios around KKU to foster area use in the campus

On September 25, at KKU Sirikunakorn Building, Faculty of Architecture hosts an exhibition to express ideas for KKU scenario improvement. For this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul (MD), an Advisor to KKU Acting President, presided over the ceremony and the program’s objectives were reported by Asst. Prof. Arwut Yimtae, a Vice President for Infrastructure and Environment.

A competition that elicits the students’ architectural and design skills was held with the theme: Guidelines for the improvement of KKU park and scenario. This project is taken care of by Asst. Prof. Dr. Chamnan Boonyapoothiphong under the sponsorship of the Department of Infrastructure.  The project is propelled by the idea to improve the on-campus area usage to ensure sufficient space to be used for students’ activities. The project targets at improving the park and areas from around the main university canteen (Complex). These areas are most often used by KKU people and they are the iconic places of the university. However, the areas around the Complex have been over used and some facilities are out of order, leading to insufficient areas for student activities and untidy look for the eyes. The Green and Smart Campus is incorporated into the development. Parks in KKU will be developed as landmarks where people can use for both relaxation and academic purposes.

Asst. Prof. Arwut Yimtae, a Vice President for Infrastructure and Environment, explained that the project encourages year four students to join the park design in form of a sketch.  Ten works are selected for first round screening and the number will be narrow down to three. The final three works will be presented via proportional model. Three winning awards and seven consolation prizes will be presented to the winners. The winner model will be used for the renovation of the parks around KKU campus, especially those situated around the Complex.

Interested audiences are invited to exhibition held between 23-27 September, at the hall on the 1st floor of Sirikunagorn Building of KKU. The award presentation is scheduled at 2 p.m. of 2nd October.
