October 12, 2022 – Khon Kaen University entered the area of Ban Dong Pong, Village No. 10, Sila Sub-district, Muang District, Khon Kaen, to survey the flood situation there. The University team was led by Mr. Chumporn Para, Acting Director of the Communications Division and Mr. Morakot Subin, Acting Director of the Security Division. The staff members of the two divisions joined the trip, which was made to plan for bringing the people there assistance and aiding articles.
Mr. Wimon Srisakhot, Assistant to the Head of Ban Don Pong related, “In the area of Ban Dong Pong, Village No. 10, Sila Sub-district, Muang District, Khon Kaen, there are over 400 households and Tha Rat Temple that have been affected by the flood for over a week. The cause is from the discharge of water from Ubon Ratana Reservoir, where the water level is at 133% of the reservoir retention capacity. Today, according to the water management committee, the discharge is adjusted to 54 million cubic meters. This will continue to increase, making the water flow down to four areas of Sila Sub-district, and Ban Dong Pong is one of these. The level of water today is 50 to100 cm, while at some point, it is as high as 150 cm. The affected places begin to send bad smell around the area.
