KKU holds a virtual run event against Covid-19, “Run Together for Sharing Happiness to Patients”

November 3, 2020 at the hall in Galayanivadhananusorn Building, Srinagarind Hospital, Faculty of Medicine – Khon Kaen University met the press to release news about the MDKKU-VR RUN 2020 by Srinagarind Minimarathon under the concept “Run Together for Sharing Happiness to Patients”. Assoc. Prof. Apichat Jirawutthipong, M.D., Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University gave an opening address and welcomed the mass media. Among those releasing the news were Asst. Prof. Chawakit Phumbynchoo, M.D., Associate Dean for the Center for Excellence and Center for Health Service, Asst. Prof. Dr. Wanchana Suebwai, Assistant to the Dean for the Center for Excellence, and Asst. Prof. Uamkhae Sukprasert, M.D., an oncologist of Department of Medicine, Srinagarind Hospital, Faculty of Medicine. This virtual run event is for accumulating running distance from 49 kilometers and over and is arranged to celebrate the 49th Anniversary of Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University. Runners who join can run anywhere in the world. The revenue will be deposited in the Srinagarind Day Fund, which is under the royal patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, and will be used to support the patients whose medical charge is over their health care rights, for the teaching, learning and training of doctors, and for research into health and health science enhancement.

Assoc. Prof. Apichat Jirawutthipong, M.D., Dean of the Faculty of Medicine explained that the Faculty was founded with the mission to produce graduates in medicine, with emphasis of general medical care and community health service. The target is to solve the problem of shortage of doctors especially in the Northeast. The Faculty is also a center of collaboration in research on health problems and health care. There have been various activities arranged with the community and this activity, as well as many others of its kind, is meant for the personnel to exercise and build good immunity against diseases. The event also emphasizes instilling awareness among the youths so that they will grow up in good health.

“The run event is arranged on Srinagarind Day every year called Srinagarind Minimarathon, in order to commemorate Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarind. It is an activity meant to promote health care among Thai people. This year, the event will be changed due to Covid-19 to MDKKU-VR RUN 2020 by Srinagarind Minimarathon. The virtual run will be for a length of 31 days and at least 49 kilometers. It is the first time the Faculty of Medicine has arranged a run event in this style,” the Dean said.

Those who want to make merit or are interested int running and jogging in the MDKKU-VR RUN 2020 by Srinagarind Minimarathon 2020 can apply at the Website: http://race.thai.run/mdkkku-vr2020  31 days, 49 kilometers. The application fee is 299 Baht, which covers e-BIB, e-Certificate, and a prize; or 499 Baht, which covers e-BIB, e-Certificate, a medal and a MDKKU-VR RUN2020 shirt. There are many other special prizes to be given. Application is open from today until November 30, 2020. Accumulating the distance starts on December 1 and lasts until December 31, 2020.
