March 2, 2024 – The International Affairs Unit and the Student Development Unit of the Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University, organized a one-day trip: “Walking with Dinosaurs”, taking 30 foreign and Thai students to visit the “Thaen Khun Phaen Din Farm”, Phu Wiang Dinosaur Museum, and Phu Wiang National Park.
The study trip allowed the students to perceive different information that added to their life experience, such as the concept of“Tourism for all”, and earthen house construction by Khun Saengpet Tantha-athipanit, the owner of the “Thaen Khun Phaen Din Farm” and a former student from the 23rd Engineering class. Next, the students visited Phu Wiang Dinosaur Museum, where they listened to a brief about the discovery of dinosaurs’ remains from unearthing for the first time in Khon Kaen. They also had a chance to see the real foot prints of dinosaurs at Phu Wiang National Park.
Additionally, the students went hiking in the forest to see the biggest giant rubber tree in Southeast Asia and enjoyed picnicking, “Kin Khaw Pa”, which is also a local lifestyle of villagers when they go finding forest items. Villagers usually pack their lunch with banana leaves and eat in the forest where they also enjoy the nature as well as relax themselves. The students also saw the beautiful landscape of Phu Wiang National Park at the “Pha Chom Tawan” point. After all these, they sent their group representatives to relate what they learned today to all in English.
The objective of this project was for the students, both Thai and foreign, of the Faculty to do activities under an international atmosphere and to learn the foreign and Thai cultures so that they would obtain the experiences and become part of the Faculty’s internationalization and become a world citizen in the future. They were also contributing to the Faculty development to be accepted internationally.
