Khon Kaen University joins the ITEX 2019: 30th International Invention & Innovation Exhibition (ITEX 2019) in Malaysia
May 14, 2019 – Khon Kaen University lecturers, academics and researchers led by Prof. Supachai Patumnakul, Vice President for Innovation and Enterprise joined the ITEX 2019: 30th International Invention & Innovation Exhibition (ITEX 2019), where the best inventions from over 20 countries in Asia and Europe were exhibited. The event aimed at showcasing and organizing contests of inventions and innovations as well as exchanging of knowledge that will ease the living of the world inhabitants. It was also a stage that helped locating new-face inventors. The event was held at KUALA LUMPUR CONVENTION CENTRE, Malaysia.
Khon Kaen University’s Intellectual Property Center and Science Park led researcher teams to the event who exhibited their work and won ITEX 2019 prizes as follows:
1. Sheet bullet-proof vest production from silk cocoons by Asst. Prof. Panomkorn Khwakhong and his team – awarded a Gold Medal and a special gold medal from World Invention Intellectual Property Associations (WIIPA) SPECIAL AWARD
2. Coiled Bamboo Guitar by Miss Pitrawee Sura-areekul – awarded a Gold Medal and a special gold medal from INNOPA innovation award, Indonesian Invention and Innovation Promotion Association.
3. Method for ethanol production from microalgae Chlorella sp. By Assoc. Prof. Mallika Khongkiatkajorn and Prof. Alisara Ruangsaeng – receiving a Silver Medal
4. Program reporting traffic rule violation and red-light running by Asst. Prof. Rutchai Ungarunyawee, Jetsada Khampong et al. – receiving a Silver Medal
Prof. Supachai Patumnakul, Vice President for Innovation and Enterprise said,“The key mission of the innovation and enterprise section is to develop innovation and build businesses or enterprises from KKU research work. Research outcomes should be utilized to the fullest extent and decrease social gaps. They can be used in business, used by the new generation to build start up, or applied to upgrade communities.”
The 4 research innovations truly bring reputation to Khon Kaen University and answer the vision to become a World Class Research University. Research is the base for development and building of new innovations, and is possible here where the staff members are highly qualified.
