August 21-22, 2020 at Sriphruetthalai Hotel Rajabhat Sammanakhan, Rajabhat University, Srisaket – Khon Kaen University by Institute for Research and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN, with support from Equitable Education Fund (EEF) held a seminar for directors of schools under the Teacher and School Development Project for Continuing Education Quality Upgrading.
The seminar opening ceremony was honored to have Mr. Wattana Phutthichat, Srisaket Governor to convey the opening address. Mrs. Wacharakan Khonpoon, Srisaket Provincial Education Officer gave a welcoming speech to participants and Asst. Prof. Piyasak Pakkhothanang, Acting Deputy Director of the Institute made a reporting speech of the seminar rationale. Additionally, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Maitree Inprasitha, Vice President for Education and Academic Service and Acting Director of the Institute, who joined the opening ceremony online, presented the background of the project implementation.
The seminar was organized for directors of schools under the Teacher and School Development Project for Continuing Education Quality Upgrading Groups 1 and 2 including directors of schools under innovation zones supported by the Education Foundation for Developing Thinking Skill and school director under the Mathematics Education Research Center. Over 200 schools in this regard are implementing similar innovation, i.e., the Lesson Study and Open Approach.
The seminar featured a variety of activities: Open Class, integrated learning management plan, world geography learning unit, knowing COVID-19, for Grade 4, taught by Teacher Achariya Khunmas. The fourth graders were from Ban Nonsaenkhamnongsla Srisa-ad School, Srisaket. Next, there was a session on reflecting the open classroom followed by a forum under the topic: “Roles of School Directors for the Lesson Study and Open Approach”. This was conducted by the representative of the school using the Lesson Study and Open Approach. There was next small-group meetings of school directors with experts in education innovations for the 21st Century learning.
This kind of seminar for school directors using the Lesson Study and Open Approach has continuously been held for the 7th year, with an objective to create a network for learning and sharing of innovations and knowledge construction through real practices. The learned lessons from the implementation have been recorded and recommendations from successful schools in the area noted as the guidelines for school directors under the project that just entered as the new network schools in order to work with the Institute for Research and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN in the future.
There were 290 participants joining the seminar, both onsite at Rajabaht Srisaket University and online.
