Central Blood Bank promotes voluntary blood donation through video clip competition under the concept, “Give Blood, Give Life by Donating Blood Every 3 Months”

August 7, 2020, 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Meeting Room of Central Blood Bank, Galayanivadhananusorn Building, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University – Central Blood Bank, Faculty of Medicine held a prize-awarding ceremony for winners of video clip competition under the concept, “Give Blood, Give Life by Donating Blood Every 3 Months”. Assoc. Prof. Kriengsak Jenvitheesuk, M.D., Director of Central Blood Bank, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, presided over the ceremony. A lot of professors and staff of Central Blood Bank attended.   

Assoc. Prof. Kriengsak Jenvitheesuk, M.D., Director of Central Blood Bank, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University explained that the video clip competition of 2020 is under the theme, “Give Blood, Give Life by Donating Blood Every 3 Months”. The activity is meant to attract students to come up with creative ideas in a video clip that promotes and campaign voluntary and continuous blood donation every 3 months. Another objective is to build perception, inspiration, and awareness in blood donation or the sense of giving without expectation for any returns. In addition, this competition also supports the annual principle project of 2020 to obtain blood for patients and operations. The clips will be used as the media to publicize the 2020 project. Those interested had submitted their 90-second clips during July 15-31, 2020. The competition results were announced on August 5, 2020. 

There were 8 clips submitted to the competition. The winner was the “One week acute project” team. This team consisted of 3 members: Mr. Surayut Janhan, Mr. Tanpisit Panawan, and Miss Siriyakorn Puasawasdeethep, who took home an award of 10,000 baht and a certificate. The first runner-up was the “NEOWISE” team, which comprised Miss La-ongthip Raknarong and Mr. Damrongsak Krasaesom, who was awarded 5,00 baht with a certificate. The second runner-up, receiving a certificate and a 3,000 baht award was the “Finding NL Test Fee”, which was composed of Mr. Pannop Ua-sereewong and Miss Passorn Tankamnoed. The committee saw the attempts of other participating teams and thus gave a certificate and a supporting amount of 500 baht each.    

Miss Siriyakorn Puasawasdeethep, a 4th year Medicine student and head of the “One week acute project” team, the winner of this competition thanked the committee for seeing the value in their work. From the first start, they intended to use their creativity to produce useful item for the society. The clip will help campaigning blood donation and help people in need. “What inspired us was the fact that people aged 18-30 years is the main group who come to receive health care service at Srinagarind Hospital. The video was then made to reach the emotion and feeling of people this age who communicate with one another by means of the social networks, so that we could promote them to help others.” 

        “Donating blood is more than merit making. The blood of the donor circulates out of the body and still can be used to save lives of many people. Please come to donate your blood and help more people,” the head of the winning team added.
