July 16, 2020, at Conference Room 1-2, Sixth Floor – Khon Kaen University by Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy (KKBS) held an MOU signing ceremony with Alibaba Business School. Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., KKU President presided over the ceremony. Khun Naren Thongkwaw, officially represented Alibaba Business School. The ceremony was participated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pensri Jaroenvanit, Dean of KKBS, administrators, lecturers and students.
The MOU between Khon Kaen University and Alibaba Business School, People’s Republic of China is aimed at developing academic collaboration, instruction, research, and promotion of activities related to business administration and management, which are the principles behind the graduate program in business administration in Digital Entrepreneur and other related programs of KKU. This curriculum has been developed through collaboration of KKBS, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Sciences, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Architecture, and Faculty of Education.
Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., KKU President said that the MOU between Khon Kaen University and Alibaba Business School is something to be pleased about because Alibaba is a world-class business organization with expertise in e-commerce that sees the importance to develop and promote the improvement of education towards construction of bodies of knowledge in e-commerce and in turn, towards the true digital economy. Instructional processes, training of lecturers and training for students including entrepreneurs will be done through the GET Program by experts from Alibaba Business School. It is expected that this academic collaboration will build new-era entrepreneurs who are able to compete in the world market.
Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D. added that the program development will target working capacity of the graduates. Thus, it will emphasize experience building, and for this we accept that Alibaba Business School is knowledgeable in e-commerce business of the world. The collaboration will fulfill the training experiences of students, truly build their skills in e-commerce trading. At the moment, the program development has much progressed and is expected to open in 2021.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pensri Jaroenvanit, Dean of KKBS said that the building of collaboration between the faculty and Alibaba Business School is actually leaping development towards the competitive age and the age of digital technology that will lead to socio-economic and educational development and the living in the 21st Century. Khon Kaen University has taken an important role in the national economic development. We see the necessity to transform education and build the readiness of the graduates in the skill, knowledge, and capacity in digital and e-commerce. The collaboration is extended to Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Sciences, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Architecture, and Faculty of Education. KKBS is the center for laying the methods and building the pilot curriculum in which the instructional approach is changed. This will lead to a new program in Digital Entrepreneur, which is a New-Paradigm Curriculum that incorporates Flipped Classroom, modules of courses. Teacher and students training will be done in parallel so that they are able to create innovations and are formed into individuals with entrepreneurial mind to work in the no-boundary e-commerce. Through the training and instruction, this new generation will be able to compete in the world market and ready to enter the digital economy era. In 2021, the Digital Entrepreneur program will be opened.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pensri Jaroenvanit added that KKBS of Khon Kaen University will act as the principle core in the development of this program by using the model program of Alibaba Business School in instruction as well as in training and developing entrepreneurs. Small and big entrepreneurs will have a chance to learn the e-commerce business operation of Alibaba, bringing benefits to KKU as well as outside.
Khun Naren Thongkwaw, the official representative of Alibaba Business School said that he is happy with the collaboration between Khon Kaen University and Alibaba Business School and is excited to be part of the development of the Digital Entrepreneur Program. The Alibaba’s Global E-Commerce Talent (GET Program) is the program in which Alibaba has incorporated different bodies of knowledge to build inspiration and new ideas among students or entrepreneurs, leading them towards being Digital Entrepreneurs. Students have a chance to learn from experts and professors from different faculties and fields. Alibaba Business School has expanded the academic collaboration with a number of Thai universities.
