On Monday, March 23, 2020, at 15.00 hrs.at Sarasin meeting room, 2nd floor, Sirikunakorn Building. Khon Kaen University has signed the MOU in the COVID-19 infected insurance with Bank of Ayudhya and Dhipaya Insurance Company to makes the COVID-19 infected insurance for KKU staff, including the official government officer, University staff, Thai and foreign staff who obtain the contract with KKU. This event was honored by Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, Acting President of Khon Kaen University and Ms. Nonthiya Pancharoen, Director of Business Financial Institute, Dhipaya Insurance Company, endorsed the MOU. Also, they were witnessed by Asst. Prof. Tala Thammaroj, Vice President for Administration and Mr. Poonsak Chalupan, Regional Senior Director of Bank of Ayudhya public company limited.
According to the pandemic of the New CoronaVirus 2019 or (Covid-19), Khon Kaen University has prepared the preventive measures such as Instruction and Learning Evaluation Guidelines: Using Online classroom instead of the traditional classroom, seminar and meeting cancellation (all the events which have many people) and, work from home. Moreover, KKU has decreased the rental fee for 35% for 3 months to entrepreneurs in KKU and during this time they will closely estimate the situation. However, KKU is the center of knowledge and several services. Therefore, some important places are available for people such as hospitals, traffic, communication, salary, and budget. In the first period, the highest risk group is a medical staff, but the third period will happen to all staff. Hence, to boost KKU’s staff encouragement, KKU provides the infected COVID 19 insurance to the staff which is university staff, official government officers, the staff that the organization operated under KKU, and enterprise staff who have the contract with KKU. Besides, In the Human Resource database, 11,460 people have an active status, including the outside honorary university council and the honorary specialist university committee.
Ms. Nonthiya Pancharoen, Director of Business Financial Institute, Dhipaya Insurance Company said about the insurance rights that thank you to KKU for your trust of Dhipaya Insurance, so the infected COVID 19 Insurance which KKU conducted for staff will cover the highest level as follows:
- No medical check-up for the insured
- Immediately Effective cover. 14 days is not needed, except if the person traveled from the risk countries.
- In case of infection, the cover insurance of medical fee is 100,000 baht per person
- In the case of coma, organ failure, or pass away the cover insurance is 1,000,000 baht. The effective date starts on 24 March 2020.
Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, Acting President of Khon Kaen University said making the infected COVID 19 this time has shown the committee’s care to all KKU staff. Many sections have a chance to face and risk with COVID 19, and our KKU staff will have the medical insurance, and if they have a serious injury, they will receive the compensation for 1,000,000 baht. However, we would like to ask for the cooperation with the staff that they should not be careless, and stay safe and keep away from this disease is the best way.
