KKU hosts a press conference about the coming science week which is aimed to promote the learning of science and technology to Thai adolescence and commemorate the scientific insightfulness of The Father of Thai Science.
On August 8, 2019 at KKU’s Sirikunakorn Building, Khon Kaen University hosted a press conference to broadcast the science week 2019. This year science week highlights how science and innovation help create a betterment in life and community. The conference was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Chanchai Panthongviriyakul (MD.), Adviser to Acting President of KKU, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Somkiart Srijaranai, Dean of Faculty of Sciences, reported the program objectives. The event was well attended by KKU members and interested audiences.
Assoc. Prof. Chanchai Panthongviriyakul (MD.) said KKU has annually conducted Science Week activity, partially to articulate to the government’s policy to promote the learning of science under Thailand 4.0 program while it is the university’s role to promote the learning of science to students in Isan region, believing that learning science can take place anywhere outside the classroom.
“KKU is enthusiastic to promote the learning of science to Isan students. For this purpose, the university is creating a new science museum as a science learning hub for people in the region. In addition, As one of the nine Thai universities that are entitled as research universities, KKU has helped correct the prevailing problems in this region by mean of research work. We believe that science will create a better life opportunity for Isan people”. Said the acting president.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Somkiart Srijaranai, Dean of Faculty of Sciences, said the objectives of the 2019 science week is to promote the learning of science to the students in Isan while it is also aimed to articulate the science ability of King Rama 4, the Father of Thai Science. The science week will exhibit science research and inventions from research on science research from KKU to corporate to this year’s slogan that says, “Igniting Thought, Develop Life and Create Nation with Science”. Due to the regularity of the organization of science week that falls in August every year, the month has been reckoned as a period for science learning.
The KKU Science Week has interesting activities such as those that honor King Rama 4, the Father of Thai Science, science games, quizzes, and competitions on computer skills, water rocket and paper airplane. Interested people and school are welcomed to join the activities between 18-20 August, 2019, at Faculty of Sciences.
