“3DGF Library that Builds Intellect” raising awareness among young librarians and instilling love of reading
Dr. Chinnavet Sarasat, Chairman of GF Funding, Khun Kriengkrai Kraisiriwat, Executive Manager of Pluk Panya Thai Co. Ltd.; Dr. Phumiphat Ruanglae, Director of Office of Primary Education Service Area 1; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kulthida Tuamsuk, Dean of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Khon Kaen University held a training project on “3DGF Library that builds intellect” to provide a learning resource and promote love of reading and required traits among students under the National Education Act that is based on “Learning for All.”
The training is continuous for over a month (from June to July) by experts from Department of Information and Communications of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Khon Kaen University in order to promote and develop good librarians, good instructional media, and good environment according to the principle of a 3D library that will develop young people to become young librarians. The project also aims at creating multiple learning media to develop smart skills for young students and digital intelligence. The environment will be developed for a lively library. The training is organized for 5 groups with Office of Primary Education Service Area 1 as the pilot area. Development will go on until all Khon Kaen Education Service areas are covered so that the learning opportunity is equally provided for young children.
The “3DGF Library that builds intellect” project is organized for two days for each group. The first day features lectures on the topic of: Management of 3D School Library, Provision and Book Listing for Librarian Teachers, Youth Librarians: the Important Person in School Library; and a library tour for young librarians. There were training sessions of borrowing and returning books, story-telling to promote wisdom, and building of imagination towards reading via paper folding activity, and development of media that promote instruction. The second day was training on ‘opening of the world of learning via story-telling from books’, ‘pubic relation of library’, ‘hand-made books’ and ‘book repair’. At the end, there was the brainstorming session and sharing of ideas in 3D library arrangement for teachers and students. This is also an important means to develop educational qualities and achievements of youth learning.
“Library” is valuable for enhancing intellect and developing education at all levels. The “3DGF Library that builds intellect” is therefore a real creative project for the society. This project is supported by Pluk Panya Thai Co. Ltd., Office of Primary Education Service Area 1 and Khon Kaen University.
