KKU’s Food Lab Earns Prestigious International Certification of ISO/IEC 17025, Opening Global Markets for Thai Entrepreneurs

Breaking barriers in food safety and quality testing, Khon Kaen University’s state-of-the-art laboratory joins the elite ranks of globally recognized testing facilities.
In a major breakthrough for Thailand’s food export industry, Khon Kaen University’s Food Analysis Laboratory has secured the coveted ISO/IEC 17025 certification, positioning it among the world’s premier food testing facilities. This achievement marks a turning point for food entrepreneurs across Thailand’s Northeast region who can now access world-class testing services without leaving the country.

“This certification is like a golden ticket for our local food producers,” explains Prof. Dr. Thidarut Boonmars, Vice President for Enterprise and Societal Sustainability at KKU. “Their products can now enter international markets with test results that carry global credibility and recognition.”

The certification ceremony, held on February 24, 2025, presided over by Dr. Rungruang Kitphati, Director-General of the Department of Science Service. Representing the Food Analysis Laboratory at KKU’s Agricultural and Food Prototype Factory, Pitchayapa Pradubwong and Kittima Triratanasirichai received the certification at the Phumibodin Room, 6th Floor, Chemistry Education Building.represented the culmination of years of rigorous preparation and evaluation. Dr. Rungruang Kitphati, Director-General of the Department of Science Service emphasized the strategic importance of this achievement: “This certification effectively eliminates trade barriers for Thai food exports, aligning perfectly with the government’s vision to establish Thailand as a global food powerhouse.”
