Saturday June 15, 2024 from 18:00 t0 23:00 p.m. at the 50th Year Sports Ground of Khon Kaen University – Khon Kaen University Student Organization held the official 2024 welcoming ceremony for the freshmen, under the Love for the New Kalaphruek Bouquet Project that succeeds Mo Din Daeng faith. The ceremony was honored to have Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of the University preside over. A big number of administrators and distinguished guests attended along with 4,500 freshmen and seniors.
The ceremony began with KKU President, administrators and distinguished guests lining up and walking onto the stage for the official opening. Next was performance of the University song followed by the procession of the Student Organization, the Student Union and freshmen walking to the football field, with the procession of the Kalaphruek bouquet entering the ceremonial venue. Then there was a performance called “Rom Pakakan” by students from the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts. After the performance, the administrators and distinguished guests joined the placing of the kalaphruek bouquet, done by the President, on the Suwan Kalaphruek tree. Next, the 61st Class Flag was presented to the freshmen, followed by KKU Boom, and singing of Khwan Mo Din Daeng song by administrators, alumni and students. The ceremony closed with musical performance to welcome the freshmen by the Student Union Band. The vibe was full of fun.
Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., the President, praised the organizing committee of the Student Organization, the Activity Organization and various related organizations both in the university and outside for creating this graceful activity to welcome the 2024 freshmen to Khon Kaen University.
The welcoming activity was organized under the concept: “Kham Phaeng La Come to KKU”, for freshmen to feel proud to be the student of Khon Kaen University. The activity also enhanced good relationship between new friends and helped the new students to adjust themselves to the University environment and condition. The welcoming activities have been ongoing since June 8. Today was the official welcoming and placing of the 61st Kalaphruek bouquet on the Suwan Kalaphruek Tree, ready to grow as the graceful Kalaphruek of Khon Kaen University.
Mr. Prompop Woha, a student of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the President of the Student Organization, said in his reporting speech that the activity of the Love for the New Kalaphruek Bouquet Project was organized to succeed Mo Din Daeng faith. It was the official welcoming of freshmen to the University, and for the students to feel proud of the institution. It was the occasion that built moral support for the new students. There was also the presentation of the Class Flag that demonstrated freshmen being a complete KKU student. It was also the celebration of the 61st year of Khon Kaen University this year.
The following students reflected their feeling about this activity:
Mr. Katpon Kosathong, a 2nd year student majoring in Automated System Engineering, Robot, and AI, Faculty of Engineering and a member of the voluntary working group, said that he had been impressed when he was a freshman, with the good activities organized by the seniors. He and his friends therefore wanted to transfer what they received by taking care of the freshmen this year. The work involved grouping and planning works of the recreation group and the voluntary group. The members assessed the situation and anticipated problems that might arise and discussed how to tackle the problems so that the activities would turn out to be the best. He and his team were proud to be part of the event.
Mr. Wachirawit Joompa, a 1st year student majoring in Mathematics Education, talked about his impression that the seniors were helpful. At first, he had some stress when arriving at the University, but now, that feeling was gone. The friends were friendly and they got to know one another very quickly, both those from the same faculty and from other faculties. The activities organized by the seniors would reduce the stress from class. He was really impressed.
Miss Tanatporn Kanjanahong, another 1st year student of the faculty of Nursing, said that at first she was worried because there were smart students in the faculty. It should be difficult for her to adjust herself to the top Isan University. However, when she entered the campus, she met the seniors and lecturers and found that they are all nice. For the welcoming activities until today, she saw that the seniors did their best to arrange everything for the freshmen, and that she never thought they would be this best. From what she had thought it would just be an ordinary welcoming activity, but from the first day until now, the activities were not just simple. Every activity was fantastic, creative and fun. She and her friends were really impressed.
The 2024 freshmen welcoming activities were organized for the freshmen to get to know new friends from different faculties and to help informing the students with the news, information, benefits and welfare for the students, as well as to know about different departments and divisions in the university. The freshmen also were able to build good relationship with other students, which would help them adjust themselves to the life and environment of the University. The activities were ongoing from June 8 to June 15 at different places around the University.
