KKU’s start-up, one of the ten future food innovations, is shown at London Tech Week under the theme ‘Thailand’s Taste of Tomorrow’ on June 10-14

Tuesday June 4, 2024 from 13:00 to 15:15 p.m. at the Virtual Media Lab: A Laboratory for Digital Media and Virtual Reality, Creative Economy Agency (Public Organization), Bangkok – Faculty of Technology, Khon Kaen University, by Dr. Pimnipa Hirunsorn, Head of the Department of Food Technology, joined the press release to launch the event: “Thailand’s Taste of Tomorrow: Fostering the Future of Food, Faith and Flavours”. At the press conference, 10 start-ups from different universities and the project: “Plant-based Puree for Dysphagia People (Samadul)”, the research project carried out by Dr. Pimnipa and her team, were selected as the top ten food innovation start-ups to be presented by means of the new creative media that would stimulate the five senses of consumers, while the story of Thai culture and the inspiration from Himmapan Forest were related. This event was organized at Riverside Studio London on June 12, 2024, and was one of the Food Innovation Global Market Launchpad Testbed: Thailand’s Taste of Tomorrow Project.

Dr. Pimnipa Hirunsorn, Head of the Department of Food Technology, Khon Kaen University said, “At present, ready-to-eat cereal-based wholemeal puree that has been designed for recovering patients and those suffering from Dysphagia is being under the major step in extending from research work to commercial innovation. The promotion is one of the main strategies that transform research work towards the direction of the world changing and the building of n new platform for FoodTech Startup. If commercially viable, it means we can solve the existing problem. This research, besides receiving support from Khon Kaen University, was also granted research fund from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, by the Program Management Unit for Competitiveness (PMUC) and the FOREFOOD Business Acceleration Platform for Food Tech Startups & Spinoffs, Office of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA).

“It was a great honor that the project has been selected as part of the innovations. It is an important step to build perception among investors and interested people abroad of the ready-to-eat plat-based wholemeal puree for recovering patients and those suffering from Dysphagia. It is about the FoodTech Solution in Thailand, related by means of menus inspired by Thai food heritage wisdom and extended by the use of technology and medical science, which select raw materials in the country that give appropriate nutritional values as well as enhancing sustainable healthiness. Moreover, it upgrades raw materials in Thailand locality to be part of the top food for rehabilitation.”

“Thailand’s Taste of Tomorrow: Fostering the Future of Food, Faith and Flavours” was held to accelerate Deep Science and Technology innovations towards commercialization, support and promote sustainable development and growth of Thai food technology start-ups in the world market, through presentation of innovative food products and ingredients of the future. The event is an important stage for building and developing the network to connect Thai food start-ups with the world market. It will attract investors and the target group to experience food ingredients that are the future innovation. PMUC and the joint organizations were supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thai Embassy in London and the private sector including Chantaburi Chamber of Commerce, Greyhound Café Co. Ltd., and Silpin Asia Co., Ltd. The 10 food technology start-ups are:
