On November 27, 2023, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Khon Kaen University held the international academic conference, IC-HUSO 2023, at its meeting room 3218 HS.03 building with the theme “Applying Humanities and Social Sciences for a Sustainable Future.”
The opening ceremony commenced with the reporting speech delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Orathai Piayura, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Following the Dean’s speech, Associate Professor Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University delivered an insightful opening speech. He emphasized the importance of international collaboration and knowledge exchange, especially in the fields of humanities and social sciences. The President also expressed his delight at the opportunity to host such an esteemed event and warmly welcomed all participants. After the opening ceremony, he presented certificates of honor to the winners of the 2023 Outstanding Faculty Thesis Awards.
The IC-HUSO 2023 served as a platform for researchers, academics, faculties, students, and practitioners in the fields of humanities and social sciences to present and exchange their research findings. The conference also aimed to build a research network in the humanities and social sciences at the national and international levels. The gathering was graced with a special lecture by Professor Dr. Martin Seeger from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom, on the topic of “Applying Humanities and Social Sciences for a Sustainable Future,” which provided the conference attendees with broader knowledge. Furthermore, the presenters and audiences actively participated in various presentations, exchanging views, and gaining insights from experts. These interactions set the stage for further advancements in research within the humanities and social sciences.
