Khon Kaen University joins the Lao PDR National institute of Fine Arts to hold the 7th Thai-Laos Cultural Workshop – “Lan Cang Heritage”

April 26, 2023 – Khon Kaen University led by Assoc. Prof. Niyom Wongpongkham, Ph.D., Vice President for Art, Culture and Creative Economy; Asst. Prof. Kittisan Sriraksa, Ph.D., Assistant to the President for Art, Culture and Creative Economy; Asst. Prof. Burin Plengdeesakul, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts; and lecturers of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Khon Kaen University, who were key organizers of the project. Welcoming the delegates from KKU was Dr. Khamsuk Kaewwongsai, Head of the National Institute of Fine Arts, People’s Democratic Republic of Laos. Asst. Prof. Burin Plengdeesakul, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts; and lecturers of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Khon Kaen University, delivered the opening speech. The executives of the two institutions then exchanged gifts, followed by group photographing at the National Institute of Fine Arts, People’s Democratic Republic of Laos.


The event featured a special talk by Assoc. Prof. Niyom Wongpongkham, Ph.D., Vice President for Art, Culture and Creative Economy of Khon Kaen University. The participants then separated into small groups to train on the principles of research article writing, which was led by lecturers from Khon Kaen University. The event has been organized for the 7th time and was aimed at provoking people of both sides of the Kong River to become aware and see the values of art and culture. The other objective was to build a foundation for good relationships between personnel of the two institutions, which also answers the strategies of both institutions that will lead to sustainable economic development.
