Faculty of Law, KKU, sparks an idea of START-UP Business Model by molding Entrepreneurial Lawyers through its 24-hrs Hackathon Project

March 4-6, 2023 – Faculty of Law, Khon Kaen University ran the Entrepreneurial Lawyers Hackathon Project to promote disciplinary integrating learning that involves the academic and private sectors and opens up a chance for continuing education and businesses. The Project was aimed at development of proactive programs according to the Faculty’s strategies and was part of the instruction of the project that prepares lawyers who are competent in business management. In this project, the Faculty of Law was collaborating with Khon Kaen Chamber of Commerce and Khon Kaen City Development Co. Ltd.

   

On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Wanida Saengsarapan, Dean of the Faculty; Assoc. Prof. Pensri Jaroenwanich, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy; Khun Charnnarong Buristrakul, Chairman of Khon Kaen Chamber of Commerce, presented the certificates of attending to the students who passed the training of the 24 Hrs. Hackathon. This program consisted of both lectures by qualified speakers and practices led by trainers from various organizations, namely:

  1. Khun Kangwan Laowirotkul, from Khon Kaen City Development Co. Ltd.
  2. Khun Sirunya Huwattana, from Netflix (Thailand) Co. Ltd.
  3. Khun Totsapon Supametheekulawat, from Surplus Technique Co. Ltd.
  4. Dr. Anon Khamworn from the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, KKU
  5. Khun Nattapong Khaowisut and his team, from Fast Forward Marketing Co. Ltd.

       

After the lectures or the theoretical part of the training, the studenys were divided into 5 groups and created and designed a Start-up Business Model within 24 hours and next presented their business model. The results of the contest were as follows:

First Prize: PA-PAI Group

First Runner-up: Workmate Group

Second Runner-up: Different-age Friends Group

The business models presented could be applied in problem solving and could meet the behaviors of different customers. The models were made from creative ideas of the students and integrated the use of modern technologies as well as knowledge of law.

Assoc. Prof. Wanida Saengsarapan, Dean of the Faculty of Law, added about the Entrepreneurial Lawyer Project that it is a project under the undergraduate programs of Law, which aims at training students to be flexible for changes and building learning opportunities that integrate law and business administration. The course credit can also be accumulated from their pre-master degree if they wish to continue. The program has been co-designed by the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, Khon Kaen Chamber of Commerce, and Khon Kaen City Development Co. Ltd. The students, after the training, would also acquire other skills besides law and this increases the chance for employment, self-development, and chances to enter the job market in the future.
