October 4, 2021 at 13:00-14:30 p.m. – Khon Kaen University held an MOU signing ceremony for academic collaboration between the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts and the Faculty of Education. The MOU is for a new program of instruction under the new instructional paradigm on music and education. Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University presided over the ceremony and congratulated the two parties, led by Asst. Prof. Burin Plengdeesakul, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts and Assoc. Prof. Sumalee Chaicharoen, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Education. Over 50 administrators, lecturers, staff, and honorable guests attended the ceremony, which took place at the theater of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts.
Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University mentioned in his congratulating speech that this double-degree program on music and education will benefit the students a great deal. It will increase the chances in the job market, and the graduates will possess more expertise. The education students will acquire music skills while the music students will acquire the teaching skill to teach their students. Both will have more chances in their future occupation. They can become government teaching officials. Therefore, those looking at more occupational chances should enroll into Khon Kaen University. The two combined programs will take 4 years. The students should be happy with the two degrees that takes the same period of time as other programs. “I really appreciate the concept of the two faculties that makes the university able to offer one more program for art teachers and teacher artists. I hope that the MOU will lead to educational benefits for the two faculties and the whole country’s educational development.”
Asst. Prof. Burin Plendeesakul, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts explained that the intention of this MOU is for academic and activity development. It emphasizes participation between lecturers and students in instruction as well as in research, innovation, academic services and nurturing of art and culture. The objective of the program is to promote a double-degree program of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts and the Faculty of Education, through cross-disciplinary integration and management of instruction under the new paradigm.
Assoc. Prof. Sumalee Chaicharoen, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Education added that the joint preparation of graduates between the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts and the Faculty of Education under the double-degree program will enable students to choose to study the courses in music and in education. It encourages the integration of cross disciplines under the new instructional paradigm according to the University’s policy. The students will be able to learn about the professional skills that are important to them. The MOU also promotes integration of research and innovation, academic services, and art and cultural promotion of the lecturers, researchers and staff of the two faculties. This meets the strategies of Khon Kaen University administration for 2020-2023. “I hope that this MOU will benefit the works of our two faculties and the national education as a whole in the future.”
