Khon Kaen University warmly welcomes the 58th Freshman Class

July 12, 2021 is the first day of the First Semester of Academic Year 2021 at Khon Kaen University. The new students and their parents were warmly welcomed to the University and to the dormitories by the elder-class students under the New Normal lifestyle, which strictly observes the safety measures against Covid situation.

Khon Kaen University warmly welcomes the 58th Freshman Class

 

The atmosphere of the first day of the First Semester of Academic Year 2021 at Khon Kaen University on July 12, 2021 was full of joy. The preparation for the welcoming in fact started a couple of days ago on July 5, when the parents took their son or daughter to the dormitories, which opened for them on July 6-7, so that the freshmen could get ready for the semester. The elder-class sophomores, juniors, or seniors who are responsible for the freshmen, under the New Normal, took strict precautions against the Covid pandemic. Meetings were arranged for the working teams, when they received the University’s policy. Assoc. Prof. Piansak Phakdee, Vice President for Student Development and Nongkhai Campus, was leading those in charge from the Division of Student Development, Division of Security and Student Union for the activities that are to be arranged online. The D-M-H-T-T principles have been emphasized, in which D stands for Social Distancing of 1-2 meters and avoiding crowded places, M stands for Mask Wearing at all time, H for Hand Washing frequently with soap or alcohol gel, T for Testing the body temperature and checking for Covid-19 infection if there is the symptom, and T for Thai Cha Na scanning before entering and exiting a public area, for information in case contact is needed.

Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University conveyed a welcoming speech to the Freshman Class of the Academic Year 2021. “On behalf of Khon Kaen University, congratulations and welcome the 58th Freshman Class to Khon Kaen University with pleasure. Because of Covid situation, KKU official welcoming ceremony is postponed to an appropriate date later. On this occasion, I would like to send our good wishes and love to all of the new students. We hope you will live here happily, and may you use the length of time of your program, 4, or 5, or 6 years to benefit yourself in learning academically, socially and learning the ways of living as a graduate in the future, when you will work for different parts of the society. Please live here with the presence of mind and be cautious in the ways you lead your life. For instruction during this Covid pandemic, you will have to take classes online. Soon there will be vaccine for all students, hopefully at the end of this month. I hope at least more than 80% of our students will be vaccinated by August or September. After that, classes will resume normally. You will meet your friends and your professors. Again, congratulations and welcome all to Mo Din Daeng.”

There are 7 activities arranged before the term starts: for example, KKU Freshman Welcome Series 2021 – KKU FWS 2021, in which new students are welcomed by the Student Activity Organization, including the Student Organization, the Student Council, and the Student Union. Other activities are: introducing the elder-classmen who are responsible to take care of the new students in groups, opening the world of KKU activity, and the activities to train the students with international skills. The activities are arranged via Facebook from July 5 to 11, 2021 by the Division of Student Development and Alumni Relation. New students are able to choose to join the activities on your own.
