The Institute for Strategic Research and Coordination for Northeast Development of Khon Kaen University is taking the leading role in planning the 5-year economy of the province with private and governmental networks.
June 24, 2021 – Mr. Worathat Thuleejan, Khon Kaen Vice Governor presided over the meeting on Khon Kaen Province Development Plans 2022- 2027 and the 2023 Official Implementation Plans. The planning process took 2 days on June 24-25, 2021 at Khon Kaen Zoo, Khao Suan Kwang District, Khon Kaen. The meeting emphasized the strategic plans for the provincial development, which include locations, connections with the neighboring countries, preparation for the threats that will arise from the changes in the world, such as the high-speed railway line Khunming – Vientiane, newly emerging diseases, and adjustments of lifestyles to catch up with the changes.
The provincial economic planning was carried out through brainstorming ideas from representatives of both the private and governmental sectors in Khon Kaen, revising the weaknesses, strengths, opportunities, and threats in order to set the provincial vision. The outcomes from the meeting will further be combined with the outcomes produced by another group that has been working on Khon Kaen Provincial plans on SMART CITY, MICE, natural and environmental resources before concluding into comprehensive 5-year plans.
The Institute for Strategic Research and Coordination for Northeast Development of Khon Kaen University, with its over 15 year expertise, is an institute that provides trainers for developmental planning of different provincial levels. The planning activities this time were led by Assoc. Prof. Rangsan Niamsanit, Director of the Institute for Strategic Research; Ajarn Weera Phak-uthai, the Institute’s Advisor; Mr. Kriengsak Phu-srisom, Deputy Director of the Institute. Two information and academic planning officers: Dr. Anuwat Srisawat and Dr. Sarinya Latthirasuwan joined the trainer team.
