HUSO launches its new Social Literacy for Social Development and English for Social Development Programs as part of the U2T Project

On 27 April, 2021, Khon Kaen University’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences held an orientation as it launched its Social Literacy for Social Development and English for Social Development Programs under the U2T Project. The online orientation via Zoom allowed 300 interested participants to join, including coordinators, members of the public, and students.

Khon Kaen University’s U2T Project for Sustainable Development aims to stimulate economic and social progress through multidisciplinary, subdistrict-level outreach. The university serves as a hub for job creation among the public, graduates, and students. The goal is to restore community-level economies and stimulate development in various fields, fostering long-lasting self-reliance among local people. The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is participating in this project by leading 2 programs. The first, Social Literacy for Social Development, covers social literacy skills, namely: distinguishing one’s own roles and duties, developing an awareness of social issues, developing a positive attitude toward social development, and learning about society as a basis for community development for the general public. The second program, English for Social Development, will focus on increasing knowledge of the English language, including English literacy skills, English communication skills, English in daily life, and community-based English communication skills. These programs will build skills and knowledge among local people, leading to long-lasting self-reliance.
