Tuesday June 1, 2021 – the Education and Academic Service Section of Khon Kaen University launched the AI Experiential Learning Programs. Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University; Mr. Surapon Petchvra, an Honorary Member of Khon Kaen University Council; Assoc. Prof. Maitree Inprasitha, Ph.D., Vice President for Education and Academic Service; and KKU administrators honored the opening ceremony at Smart Classroom, 4th Floor, Institute for Research and Development of Teaching Profession for ASEAN, Khon Kaen University. Over 3,000 people participated in the event online.

The AI Experiential Learning Programs are open for complete online activities on a platform developed from virtual reality via https://vconf.kku.ac.th. The objectives are for constructing knowledge and understanding of artificial intelligence, promoting the use of AI to transform the paradigms in instruction, research and related work, and at the same time enhancing initiation and development of innovations by means of AI.

Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University said that the AI Experiential Learning Programs corresponds to the 1st strategy of Khon Kaen University, or Education Transformation and the 2nd stratagem in lifelong education. The Education and Academic Service Section is collaborating with organizations both inside and outside KKU including overseas institutions and has invited experts to share their experiences so that the program participants will be exposed to direct experiences in new technologies of the future such as AI, Blockchain, Cloud Computing, Big Data, Edge Computing and Quantum Computing.

“This Virtual Reality Conference is organized to cluster experts in different disciplines, education, agriculture, engineering, etc. to share their knowledge related to artificial intelligence, which is the present-day technology that has great impact on our lifestyles and work of many parts of the society. It is a good chance for the over 3,000 participants to learn from the experts both in Thailand, Japan, and the US. It is also a good chance of Khon Kaen University to increase knowledge in AI technologies to relevant people. I’m grateful to the Education Section and all of those who have contributed to this activity.”

Assoc. Prof. Maitree Inprasitha, Ph.D., Vice President for Education and Academic Service explained that this event is organized virtually, with over 3,000 participants both in the country and abroad. Because AI is something new but has impact on every matter, the objectives are therefore in 3 issues. Firstly, we want to transfer knowledge and direct experiences to participants. For instance, the event today relies on AI in order to enable training in all dimensions. Secondly, we believe that the new instruction paradigm requires the use of AI. Lastly, Khon Kaen University will be a learning resource for AI.

Mr. Surapon Petchvra, an Honorary Member of Khon Kaen University Council added that he has been invited by KKU to talk on the use of AI to reduce the gap in education. “I believe that education is very important, and Covid-19 is the issue propelling AI to advance rapidly in education. The question is how we can use AI to reduce impact from Covid-19.”

“Now, those who stay at home who don’t know what to do can join this training and use AI to build their occupation and lessen the impact form Covid-19.”

The AI Experiential Learning Programs are scheduled completely online from June 1 to June 23, 2021. Those interested can join at Website: https://vconf.kku.ac.th
