KKU Welcomes KOICA Delegation to Strengthen Academic Cooperation in Korean Language and Culture

The visit aims to enhance sustainable educational collaboration and explore development partnerships within the Mekong subregion.

Khon Kaen University (KKU) recently welcomed Mr. Nam Hyuk Kim, Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to Thailand, along with a delegation from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). The visit was arranged to monitor the performance of KOICA volunteers currently stationed at the university and to exchange views on future development strategies and collaborative opportunities with the Mekong Institute.

The delegation was received by Associate Professor Nawarat Wara-aswapati, D.D.S., D.M.Sc., Vice President for International Affairs, alongside executives and faculty members from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The bilateral discussion took place at the Sirikunakorn Building, Khon Kaen University.

The meeting focused on reviewing the ongoing contributions of KOICA volunteers at KKU, highlighting the university’s status as a longstanding partner institution of the agency. Both parties held a productive dialogue on operational directions and explored frameworks for expanding future cooperation with the Mekong Institute, with the aim of promoting Korean language and cultural education at the university on a sustainable basis.

This visit further strengthens the relations between Khon Kaen University and KOICA. The continued partnership is expected to support academic development, facilitate capacity building, and foster sustainable international collaboration.

The visit underscores KKU’s commitment to global engagement and international collaboration, in line with its institutional mission to enrich the university community through global partnerships and cultural exchange.
