The landmark event celebrates three decades of mathematical excellence, driving foundational research towards global networks and national technological development.
The Faculty of Science at Khon Kaen University, in collaboration with the Mathematical Association of Thailand under the Royal Patronage and the Centre for Promotion of Mathematical Research of Thailand, officially opened a major national academic forum. The event combined the 30th Annual Meeting in Mathematics (AMM 2026), the National Conference on Number Theory and Applications (CNA 2026), and an international symposium titled “The International Session on Nonlinear and Convex Analysis”. Organised under the theme “Mathematics: Building Pathways to the Future”, the gatherings underscored the critical role of applied mathematics in powering artificial intelligence and contemporary technological paradigms.
The conferences took place from 28 to 30 May 2026 at the Avani Convention Centre, Avani Khon Kaen Hotel & Convention Centre. The event attracted over 500 scholars, researchers, faculty members, and students from across the country. This iteration marked a historic milestone celebrating the 30th anniversary of the AMM platform, returning to its inaugural birthplace where Khon Kaen University first had the honour of hosting the convention in 1995.

Professor Dr. Ratinan Boonklurb, President of the Mathematical Association of Thailand under the Royal Patronage, welcomed the participants, noting that the platform serves as a vital nexus for exchanging knowledge, experimental findings, and pedagogical methodologies to keep pace with rapid global dynamics. Professor Dr. Boonklurb added that mathematics has clearly transcended theoretical boundaries to become an indispensable engine driving various disciplines, including science, technology, artificial intelligence, and the broader economy.

Assistant Professor Angkana Boonyued, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Science at Khon Kaen University, speaking on behalf of the organising committee, outlined the objectives of the conferences. The Dean stated that the event functions as a premier national and international arena for advancing innovations that integrate mathematics across diverse fields. The comprehensive academic programme featured special lectures by 4 distinguished experts, presentations from 20 invited speakers, 149 research paper presentations, and 61 manuscripts submitted for peer-reviewed publication in the conference proceedings, spanning mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, data science, and mathematics education.

Professor Pewpan Maleewong, M.D., Vice President for Research and Innovation at Khon Kaen University, presided over the opening ceremony. The Vice President emphasised that in an era of rapid digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and data science, mathematics is no longer confined to classrooms or textbooks. Instead, it forms the bedrock of innovative solutions to intricate global challenges, ranging from energy security and climate crises to sustainable economic development.
Beyond academic presentations, the conferences featured keynote addresses by four renowned scholars: Professor Dr. Jakob Stix from Goethe-Universität Frankfurt, Germany; Professor Dr. Suthep Suantai from Chiang Mai University; Associate Professor Dr. Maitree Inprasitha, President of the Thailand Society of Mathematics Education; and Assistant Professor Dr. Somporn Chuai-Aree from Prince of Songkla University. A special panel discussion on “Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence” was also held, bringing together specialists to address the construction of a technological ecosystem for the future.
The hosting of AMM & CNA 2026 by the Faculty of Science at Khon Kaen University not only celebrates three decades of academic achievement but also represents a vital step forward under the university’s Research Transformation strategy. This initiative aims to elevate fundamental research into integrated studies while establishing robust international collaborative networks.
The successful organisation of this event reflects the enduring commitment of the Faculty of Science to generating socially beneficial innovations, fostering international-quality research, and cultivating mathematical talent equipped to meet national demands in the digital era. Ultimately, the synergy demonstrated between educational institutions, professional organisations, and international experts highlights Thailand’s potential as a regional hub for mathematical exchange, laying a solid foundation for future scientific and technological advancement.
