KKU Secures First Gold Medal in Athletics at 42nd Thailand University Staff Games

Lecturer Pratheungwut Nuangbhakdi triumphs in the men’s 100-metre sprint at the ‘SWU Games’ in Nakhon Nayok.

On 29 May 2026, Khon Kaen University achieved its first major success at the 42nd Thailand University Staff Games, known as the ‘SWU Games’. Mr. Pratheungwut Nuangbhakdi, a lecturer at the Secondary Education Division of Khon Kaen University Demonstration School, secured the gold medal in the men’s 100-metre athletics event for the 30–34 age category.

The competition was hosted by Srinakharinwirot University at its Ongkharak Campus in Nakhon Nayok Province, bringing together academic and support staff from higher education institutions across Thailand to foster camaraderie and athletic excellence.

Following his victory, Mr Nuangbhakdi spoke of his pride in contributing to the university’s sporting achievements. He said he was delighted to have won the first gold medal for the Khon Kaen University athletics delegation and invited the university community to support all remaining athletes, wishing them success in bringing victory back to the campus.

The gold medal represents an encouraging start for the university’s sports delegation at this national tournament, demonstrating the dedication of the institution’s personnel to physical well-being and competitive sport. It reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to holistic staff development and community engagement through sport.
