Faculty of Science Hosts “SCi Show & Share 2026” to Showcase Support Staff Innovations Under the Concept of “Reimagine Work Process”

On 22 May 2026, the Faculty of Science at Khon Kaen University reaffirmed its vision to become a leading academic unit that generates international-standard knowledge and innovation, and develops high-calibre human resources. Aligning with the Khon Kaen University Strategic Management Plan (2026–2029), the Faculty hosted the “SCi Show & Share 2026” event under the theme ‘Showcase Achievements, Share Experiences, and Inspire the Future’ at Wittayawiphas 1 Hall, Wittayawiphas Building.

Assistant Professor Angkana Boonyued, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Science, presided over the opening ceremony, which was well-attended by faculty executives, department heads, and support personnel. The event serves as a key strategic platform designed to foster an achievement-oriented organisational culture. It advances the core ‘SMART DNA’ values, with particular emphasis on generating innovations from routine operations (Research and Innovation – R) and fostering collaborative teamwork (Teamwork – T).

Assistant Professor Boonyued noted during her opening address that the SCi Show & Share event serves as an important forum for optimising institutional work processes, building on the Faculty’s solid operational foundation. She commended the personnel for their proactive approach to workplace challenges, turning on-the-job obstacles into catalysts for creative problem-solving. She emphasised that this platform allows staff to practise, review, and reimagine work processes within the organisation before entering national competitions, while gaining fresh perspectives to drive the Faculty towards its collective goals.

The event featured a Flash Talk session where staff presented 10 distinct projects, demonstrating a commitment to management by factual information (M). Following the presentations, senior professional support staff delivered a special lecture titled ‘From Workplace Experience to Professional Routine-to-Research (R2R) Development’, drawing on insights from their professional experience:

  • Ms. Penpak Khamkaew, a Senior Professional Scientist with over 20 years of expertise in ISO standard systems, shared insights on data management and the resolution of operational constraints. She noted that while repeating daily routines builds experience, enhancing those routines daily defines true professionalism. She taught herself software development and G-code programming to build automated systems for real-time problem-solving, urging staff to identify and address repetitive operational inefficiencies.
  • Ms. Theeranuch Hansopa, a Senior Professional Educational Officer, reflected on her 19-year tenure, describing how she transformed administrative hurdles into institutional opportunities. She emphasised that daily operational challenges serve as valuable sources of innovation, citing her development of an academic performance verification system designed to minimise processing delays. She suggested integrating research methodologies into routine workflows to optimise time management, adding that professional transformation begins with the confidence to reshape one’s mindset.

The technical innovations presented were evaluated and awarded across several categories:

  • Gold Medal (Developmental Project Group): “Dashboard Development for Public Relations Media Tracking, Faculty of Science, KKU” by Mr. Sarayut Khinnongjok.
  • Silver Medals: “Accuracy and Precision of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) Analysis Methods in Water” by Ms. Nattarika Ketkaew; and “Smart Dean Appointment System for Agile Management” by Ms. Sukon Boonjan and Mr. Thanapon Tayotee.
  • Bronze Medals: “A Study of Factors Affecting Microscope Depreciation in Educational Institutions” by Ms. Thanyarat Phurijan; “Analysis of the Status and Retention of Undergraduate Students, Faculty of Science, KKU” by Ms. Thitima Promjak; and “Cloud-Based Online Audio-Visual Equipment Management and Booking System System” by Mr. Wuttichat Noinnarin (which also received the Popular Vote Award).
  • Honourable Mentions: “LINE Secretary” by Mr. Theeradech Thanaphawa; “Wastewater Pumping System via Powerbox” by Mr. Boonsong Kongsuk; “Annual Action Plan Indicator Reporting System” by Ms. Kritsaya Suwannachak; and “SCi Risk Tracker: Risk Management and Internal Control Tracking System” by Mr. Thanapon Tayotee.

The SCi Show & Share 2026 event highlights the active engagement of support personnel in reimagining work processes through cloud-based systems, data dashboards, and smart technologies to build an agile organisation. This collaborative effort serves as an institutional driver to enhance competence, positioning the Faculty of Science to meet national quality award criteria and engage effectively in national knowledge-sharing platforms.
