Faculty of Dentistry Celebrates 47th Anniversary with “47 Years of Smile DENT KKU”

The commemorative event honoured the faculty’s founder and recognised the outstanding contributions of staff, alumni, and students who have shaped its legacy.

The Faculty of Dentistry at Khon Kaen University celebrated its 47th anniversary in a ceremony marked by reverence, warmth, and a deep sense of community. The event, held on 14 May 2026, was led by Assistant Professor Ajiravudh Subarnbhesaj, Ph.D., D.D.S., Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, alongside the administrative team, faculty members, staff, and students.

The morning began with a wreath-laying ceremony at the bust of Professor Emeritus Isra Yuktananda, D.D.S., the visionary founder of the faculty. Held in the lobby of the Dental Hospital, the tribute was a solemn moment to honour his pioneering contributions to both the faculty and the field of dentistry in Thailand.

Held under the theme “47 Years of Smile DENT KKU”, the anniversary reflected a proud history, celebrated smiles of success, and highlighted the enduring bonds passed down through generations for nearly half a century. Participants stood in respectful silence, laying wreaths to commemorate the immense legacy of Professor Emeritus Issara Yuktanand, D.D.S., whose work laid the foundation for the faculty’s growth into a nationally and internationally recognised institution for producing high-quality dental professionals.

A special moment was dedicated to honouring personnel who have devoted 30 years of service to the faculty, reflecting their deep commitment and dedication. These individuals include Prof. Dr. Arpa Chanthävy, Assoc. Prof. Anoma Ratanajarern-tham, Assoc. Prof. Varaporn Suwanrong, Asst. Prof. Apaporn Pahasuk, Asst. Prof. Siripong Sittisomwong, Asst. Prof. Supaporn Kongsomboon, Mrs. Prathumma Thadaeng, Mrs. Urai Kamsawad, and Mrs. Chataruedee Kromna.

The faculty also presented a bouquet to Associate Professor Phensri Potipakdi, D.D.S., in recognition of her national and international achievements in senior sports. Additionally, appreciation was extended to the student team “Ru Na Mai Ru Step” for their innovative success in the 1st HED+kathon competition. The team members are Ms. Pitipatt Betamwa (5th year), Mr. Peerapat Marttra (4th year), Ms. Apisara Khamchiang (4th year), Ms. Muthita Rujiwipat (3rd year), and Ms. Apassara Suttikul (3rd year).

For 47 years, the Faculty of Dentistry has served as a centre for learning, treatment, and inspiration. Its core mission remains rooted in the values of service, knowledge development, and compassionate patient care. The anniversary was not just a tribute but a reaffirmation of the founding principles that continue to unite the faculty community, inspiring them to move forward with pride and a shared commitment to creating smiles in society.
