“Aggie Night Wan Lai: From Fun to Volunteer Spirit for the Community” Creative Festival Reflects the Power of Khon Kaen University Students

Khon Kaen University, by the Faculty of Agriculture, organized the “Aggie Night Wan Lai” event under the concept of creating cultural activities alongside student development. It connects the Songkran festival on an international level (Global Festival) to a learning space and student participation, and further extends to concrete volunteer work for the community.

This activity was discussed on the KKU Radio program “RobRua MoKo,” with Benjamaporn Mamook, the host, interviewing Dr. Prakasit Duangpapheng, Assistant Dean for Student Development and Alumni Relations, Faculty of Agriculture, along with student representatives: Mr. Chawin Chasuri (Game), Vice President of the 4 Joab Volunteer Leader Camp 21st, and Mr. Rattapon Paisan (X), President of the Recreation Department, Student Council, Faculty of Agriculture.

The Beginning of “Aggie Night”: From Concept to Action

The Aggie Night Wan Lai event, held from April 28 – 30, 2069, between 4:00 PM and 10:00 PM at the Agricultural Technology Park, Khon Kaen University, originated from the idea of providing a space for students to showcase their potential through organizing activities in the form of a “Lan Market” or creative market of the Faculty of Agriculture, which aligns with the Songkran festival period. Dr. Prakasit stated that since the Faculty of Agriculture was honored to host the “4 Joab Volunteer Leader Camp 21st,” they wanted to truly involve students in thinking, planning, and managing activities. Students were allowed to present their ideas before finalizing the “Wan Lai” theme, which suited the atmosphere towards the end of the Songkran festival.

Meaningful Fun, Proceeds for Volunteer Camp

Chawin Chasuri (Game), Vice President of the 4 Joab Volunteer Leader Camp 21st, explained that the proceeds from the Aggie Night event, after deducting expenses, will be used to fund the 4 Joab Volunteer Leader Camp. This camp is a platform that brings together student leaders from the Faculty of Agriculture from 12 institutions across the country. Activities within the camp are divided into three important parts: leadership development, community development volunteer activities, and agricultural field trips in real locations. This year, the 4 Joab Leader Camp will be held from May 18–22 at Ban Phu Kham Bao School in Ubolratana District, Khon Kaen Province, which is a small school with potential in community enterprises, especially with its “fermented fish” product. Students and faculty will go to the area to provide knowledge in areas such as agriculture, processing, marketing communication, and community potential analysis to elevate it into a tourist destination in the future.

A Real Skills Training Ground for Learning Outside the Classroom

This event was almost entirely organized by students, from planning and space management to coordinating shops and public relations, truly reflecting the concept of “Learning by Doing.” Rattapon stated that what they gained was not just fun, but also important skills such as communication and teamwork, listening to diverse opinions, managing large-scale events, and solving immediate problems.

Student Power Towards Sustainable Social Development

Dr. Prakasit concluded by saying that Aggie Night Wan Lai is not just a festival of entertainment, but a reflection of the power of Khon Kaen University students who can perfectly connect “fun” with “social responsibility.” Although this happy and fun event is starting small for the first time this year, we hope that ‘Aggie Night Wan Lai’ will continue to move forward in the coming years and grow into a beautiful activity that becomes a Signature Event of KKU in the future.

From campus activities to real community development, this event is another example of creating graduates with knowledge, skills, and public-mindedness, ready to drive Thai society towards a sustainable future.
