On 30 April 2026, the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Queen Sirikit Heart Center of the Northeast, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, organised the “7th KKU Coronary Surgery Mastery” workshop. The event, held under the theme “Deep Dive in OPCAB: How to achieve an excellent outcome and Live demonstration,” took place in the operating theatre on the 7th floor of the Queen Sirikit Heart Center building.

The workshop featured distinguished expert speakers from Tokyo Women’s Medical University, Japan, alongside leading specialists from leading medical institutions across Thailand. The event attracted a large number of medical professionals.

Held from 30 April to 1 May 2026, the workshop was designed to enhance skills and facilitate knowledge exchange in Off-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass (OPCAB) surgery, a highly complex procedure. The programme focused on in-depth practical learning to improve the quality of care for patients with coronary artery disease. Activities included academic lectures, case discussions, and a live surgical demonstration, enabling participants to apply effectively the acquired knowledge and techniques in patient care.

This training initiative served as a platform for sharing real-world surgical practical techniques and insights, providing cardiac surgeons, residents, anaesthetists, and operating theatre nurses with an opportunity for comprehensive knowledge exchange and academic networking. Furthermore, the workshop not only enhanced the capabilities of medical personnel but also played a crucial role in improving the safety and quality of treatment outcomes for heart patients. This reflects the Queen Sirikit Heart Center’s ongoing commitment to elevating its cardiac care standards to an international level.
