Khon Kaen University (KKU) recently hosted a delegation from Kasetsart University (KU) for a study visit focused on exchanging knowledge and best practices in international affairs and research management.
The visit was co-hosted by Assistant Professor Acharawan Topark-Ngarm, Ph.D., Assistant to the President for International Affairs at Khon Kaen University, and Professor Kornsorn Srikulnath, Ph.D., Assistant to the President for Research and Internationalization at Kasetsart University. They were accompanied by executives and staff from relevant departments of both institutions.
During the meeting, Khon Kaen University presented an overview of its strategic operations, with a particular focus on its output-based management approach. This model prioritises clear and measurable outcomes that can be leveraged to create institutional and global impact across internationalisation, research development, and university rankings. The event featured key presentations, including:
- KKU’s International Affairs Strategy: Presented by Assistant Professor Acharawan Topark-Ngarm, Ph.D., Assistant to the President for International Affairs.
- The Role and Mission of the International Affairs Division: Presented by Mr. Isara Suriyagul Na Ayudhaya, Director of the International Affairs Division.
- Research Management at Khon Kaen University: Presented by Ms. Krittika Daengrat, Director of the Research Administration Division.
Discussions also covered key topics such as building collaborative networks with international universities, developing international curricula, attracting international students, and promoting internationalisation at home. Furthermore, the use of digital systems to enhance administrative efficiency was highlighted, including an MOU management system, a visa tracking system, and a research database.
In the area of research, Khon Kaen University shared its approach to developing a comprehensive research ecosystem. This strategy encompasses everything from supporting research grant applications and enhancing researchers’ capacities to fostering international collaborations and implementing an incentive system for publications in high-quality academic journals. These initiatives are key factors in elevating the quality of research output and enhancing the university’s global reputation. The delegation also showed significant interest in KKU’s methods for managing international and research-related contracts. KKU shared its experience in streamlining processes and resolving systemic bottlenecks by engaging specialised international law experts, which has increased operational flexibility and efficiency.
This study visit and knowledge exchange reflect the strong partnership between universities within the National Research University network. It served as a vital platform for sharing best practices in university administration, covering the dimensions of international affairs, research, and the sustainable drive towards global competitiveness.
