Khon Kaen University Participates in National Journalists’ Day and National Mass Communication Day 2026: Strengthening Media Collaboration for Social Development

The President of Khon Kaen University highlighted the university’s Green University strategy, aiming to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030, and expressed appreciation to media professionals for their role in disseminating knowledge to the public.

On 5 March 2026, Associate Professor Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University, together with staff from the Office of Corporate Communications, attended the National Journalists’ Day and National Mass Communication Day 2026 event, organised by the Khon Kaen Provincial Journalists Association, Newspaper Publishers, and Broadcasting Media.

The event was held at the swimming pool terrace on the fourth floor of the Charoen Thani Hotel, Khon Kaen, and was attended by numerous media professionals and distinguished guests from various sectors.

 

The ceremony was honoured by the presence of Lieutenant General Dr. Somchat Naenudorn, Chairman of the Basic Education Committee of Khon Kaen Wittayayon School and Special Royal Aide-de-Camp, who presided over the event and delivered the opening remarks. He emphasized the crucial role of the media in presenting accurate, comprehensive, and beneficial information to society, and commended the media for their significant contribution to national development. The event was also attended by Mr. Surachai Akcharasivaro. The founder of the Khon Kaen Province Media Association, representing the media of Khon Kaen Province, delivered a report on the objectives of this year’s event.

On this occasion, Associate Professor Dr. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, President of Khon Kaen University, expressed his sentiments to the media and discussed the university’s role in advancing the Green University strategy , with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality. (Carbon Neutrality) By 2029, through the use of clean energy, the installation of a 30 MW solar power system, waste and wastewater management, the expansion of green spaces, and the promotion of electric vehicle use (EV Bus), to achieve environmental sustainability.

In addition, the event featured a forum for media professionals and representatives from multiple sectors to exchange perspectives and ideas on strengthening media collaboration for societal benefit. During the occasion, Khon Kaen University also presented a grant to the Khon Kaen Provincial Press Association to support media initiatives aimed at disseminating accurate, constructive, and socially beneficial information to the public.
