The Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University (ED KKU), is advancing its mission to strengthen social resilience and promote health awareness among pre-service teachers by organising an educational campaign on sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Held under the theme “Safe, Open to Talk, and Relevant” on 19 February 2026 at Room 1101, the event featured a multidisciplinary team of experts—including doctors, nurses, and counsellors from the Counselling Center at Srinagarind Hospital. They delivered accurate, evidence-based knowledge and fostered constructive attitudes towards sexual health, recognised as an essential life competency in contemporary society.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Issara Kanjug, Dean of the Faculty of Education, emphasized the significance of this event during the opening ceremony. He stated that having a proper understanding of sexual well-being is not merely a personal matter; for pre-service teachers, it is a vital “intellectual weapon” to be passed on in future classrooms. Preparing them today will empower these new-generation teachers to create safe spaces in schools and communicate traditionally sensitive topics in an easy-to-understand and academically accurate manner, serving as reliable mentors for the youth.
The event fostered an atmosphere of dynamic and inclusive knowledge exchange. The invited speakers adopted contemporary and accessible presentation approaches to reduce discomfort surrounding discussions of sexual health, creating an open forum where students were encouraged to ask questions freely. The activity aimed to enhance awareness, build confidence, and cultivate future educators who are adaptable to evolving social contexts and equipped with strong health literacy.
This initiative not only reflects ED KKU’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals of Good Health and Well-being (SDG3) and Quality Education (SDG4) but also reinforces the Faculty’s dedication to nurturing “Educational Innovators” equipped with comprehensive competencies. By combining academic excellence with essential life skills, they will become a vital force in building a safe and sustainable learning society.
