KKU Organises 4th Special ‘Siri Market: Market of Joy’ to Create Happiness Zone and Boost Sustainable Community Economy

On 9 January 2026, Khon Kaen University organised the 4th Special ‘Siri Market: Market of Joy’, transforming the area in front of the Central Administrative Division at the Sirikunakorn Building into a vibrant space for happiness, sharing, and sustainable community economic development.

The event was a collaborative initiative led by the Vice Presidency for Enterprise and Societal Sustainability, through the Sustainable Enterprise and Society Promotion Centre, in partnership with the Office of the President, the Quality Education Development Division, the Central Administrative Division, and the Human Resources Division.

Organised in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2: Zero Hunger. It aimed to establish a ‘Market of Joy’ that allowed personnel from the units under the Office of the President to sell high-quality, affordably priced goods. Simultaneously, the market invited community enterprises from Khon Kaen province to participate, helping to distribute income and support local products.

The event featured a diverse range of vendors and network partners, including CP Axtra Public Company Limited, Ban Pho Tak Community Enterprise Group, Jeab’s Agricultural Products, Jundao Salad Farm, Non Koo Smart City, and Nai Dong Pork Sausages, along with specially-priced, quality products from the Green Market entrepreneurs. The event attracted significant interest from university personnel and participants, creating a lively and convivial atmosphere

Beyond its role as a marketplace for happiness, the ‘Siri Market: Market of Joy’ serves as a platform for knowledge exchange between the University and the local community. It fosters cooperation networks that promote the concept of a Circular Economy and enhance income opportunities for regional community enterprises.

Khon Kaen University has designated the first Friday of every month as the ‘Special Market Day.’ This iteration marks the fourth time the special market has been held, providing a dedicated space for entrepreneurs and community enterprise networks to sell their goods, expand market opportunities, and continuously foster participation. In addition to the special monthly event, the Siri Market featuring products from KKU staff is open regularly every Monday to Friday, serving as a venue for sales and community building within the University.

Through initiatives such as the Siri Market, Khon Kaen University reaffirms its commitment to becoming a centre of knowledge, innovation, and cooperation for the sustainable development of the Northeast. Guided by the SDGs, the university advances integrated development across economic, social, environmental, and health dimensions, striving to grow as a Future University that progresses in harmony with local communities in a balanced and sustainable manner.
