KKU Extends Support to Flood-Hit Southern Region in Collaboration with PSU

On Tuesday, 25 November 2025, the Vice Presidency for Student Affairs and Innovation Commercialisation, Khon Kaen University (KKU), established a relief centre to aid flood victims in the southern region. The centre is collecting essential items and non-perishable food for relief bags at the Division of Student Affairs and Alumni Relations, Khon Kaen University, and accepting monetary donations to alleviate the suffering of affected citizens.

Associate Professor Pensri Jaroenwanit, Vice President for Student Affairs and Innovation Commercialisation, Khon Kaen University, stated that the Vice Presidency had been closely monitoring the flood situation and the plight of the victims in the South, particularly in Songkhla province. This monitoring was conducted through the network of student development divisions affiliated with the Council of University Presidents of Thailand (CUPT) and Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Hat Yai Campus. Furthermore, KKU students whose families reside in Hat Yai district, Songkhla, reported their distress.

In response, the university swiftly established an area to receive donations of necessary items and dry goods for relief bags, such as rice, instant noodles, canned food, milk, snacks, and essential medicines. Monetary donations are also being accepted via the Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) account titled: “KKU United Hearts for Flood Relief” (402-734360-3).

“We have witnessed the scale of the damage and severe hardship faced by the public due to this heavy flooding. Additionally, several KKU students’ families in the Hat Yai area are among the affected victims. We believe that rapidly providing assistance is crucial to reach those suffering, offering both practical help and moral support to our students and the affected public, ensuring they feel cared for and encouraged to fight this disaster so that we can overcome this crisis together. We hope everyone remains safe and we invite those with compassionate hearts to join this effort, as we firmly believe that Thais never abandon each other,” stated Associate Professor Pensri.

The Vice Presidency for Student Affairs and Innovation Commercialisation is urgently surveying the extent of the hardship experienced by KKU students affected by the current floods to provide immediate relief and assistance. The centre will accept donations during official working hours at the Division of Student Affairs and Alumni Relations for the first round of collection until Tuesday, 2 December 2025. These items will be expedited to Prince of Songkla University, Hat Yai Campus, which currently serves as a shelter for a large number of affected citizens, staff, and students.
