Faculty of Technology Delivers ‘SimpleSense Purée Soup’ to 23rd Military District, Supporting Soldier Health and Driving Research for Society

The Faculty of Technology, Khon Kaen University (KKU), demonstrated its commitment to academic excellence and social innovation by formally delivering the ready-to-eat SimpleSense Purée Soup product to the 23rd Military District (MTHB 23). This product is the result of focused research conducted by the Department of Food Technology.

The handover ceremony took place at Fort Sripatcharin, Khon Kaen Province. Colonel Chat Tra Daengphet, Commander of the Reserve Officer Training Centre, 23rd Military District, accepted the delivery on behalf of the MTHB 23.

Representing Khon Kaen University were Assistant Professor Dr. Araya Chaowchareonrit, Dean of the Faculty of Technology, and Assistant Professor Dr. Pimnibha Hirunsorn, Head of the Department of Food Technology and the product’s lead researcher.

The SimpleSense Purée Soup is a smooth, ready-to-eat preparation developed from natural plant-based ingredients, including germinated brown rice, Job’s tears, lotus seeds, mung beans, and pea protein, all simmered in brown rice milk. This formulation provides complete nutritional energy, making it suitable for older persons, patients requiring physical rehabilitation, and military personnel undertaking continuous missions.

On this occasion, Assistant Professor Dr. Pimnibha Hirunsorn commented on the philosophy behind the product’s development:

“SimpleSense is not just a typical ready-to-eat meal; it is the outcome of research meticulously developed to address the nutritional requirements of vulnerable groups. We have been precise in everything from ingredient selection and texture design—ensuring easy swallowing—to maintaining balanced nutritional value. Most critically, we aimed to make this food truly accessible and genuinely supportive in situations requiring energy rejuvenation.”

This initiative aligns with the Faculty of Technology’s policy to advance KKU’s mission as a ‘University for the Society.’ It involves applying research and food innovation directly in the field to enhance public wellbeing by transferring knowledge and providing products that are safe, easily digestible, and possess high nutritional value.

The provision of SimpleSense to the nation’s soldiers is therefore more than just a donation of food; it serves as a transfer of morale and physical strength. It reflects the Faculty of Technology’s steadfast commitment to utilising research in service of society, fulfilling its vision to be “A leading organisation in creating social and commercial innovations.”
