KKU Organises “Siri Market: Market of Happiness” to Create Space for Joy, Sharing, and Sustainable Community Economic Promotion

On 7 November 2025, Khon Kaen University (KKU) held the “Siri Market: Market of Happiness” event. This collaboration involved the Vice President for Enterprise and Societal Sustainability (represented by the Centre for Enterprise and Societal Sustainability), in conjunction with the Office of the President, the Division of Educational Quality Development, the Division of Central Administration, and the Division of Human Resources. The market took place in front of the Division of Central Administration Building, Sirikunakorn Building, Khon Kaen University. Its objective was to foster cooperation and create sustainable economic growth within the community, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The “Siri Market: Market of Happiness” was organised specifically to promote SDG 2: Zero Hunger, creating a space for joy and sharing. The university provided opportunities for personnel from units under the Office of the President to sell high-quality, reasonably priced goods. Furthermore, community enterprise networks from Khon Kaen Province were invited to set up stalls selling local products, including:

  • Ban Pho Tak Community Enterprise Group
  • Jandao Salad Garden
  • Hug Rice – Puffed Crispy Rice
  • Non Ku Smart City Project
  • Nai Dong Pork Sausage

The market also featured special price products from CP Axtra Public Company Limited, which participated in the event, contributing to a lively atmosphere.

Beyond serving as a marketplace for joy, the “Market of Happiness” is a platform for knowledge exchange between university personnel and the community. This strengthens cooperative networks that promote the concept of the Circular Economy and helps increase income for local community enterprise groups. Khon Kaen University plans to regularly organise the Market of Happiness with its network partners on a monthly basis to continuously drive sustainable mechanisms.

Khon Kaen University is committed to being a centre for knowledge, innovation, and cooperation for the sustainability of the Northeastern region. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) serve as a compass guiding development in economic, social, environmental, and public well-being aspects. This commitment drives KKU toward becoming a “University of the Future” that grows in balanced and sustainable harmony with its community.
