KKU Master’s Student in Electrical Engineering Wins Best Presentation Award at ASIP 2025 in Japan

From June 13 to 15, 2025, Mr. Thanachai Jantana, a master’s student in Electrical Engineering at Khon Kaen University, received the Best Presentation Award at the 2025 7th Asia Symposium on Image Processing (ASIP 2025) held at the Tsukuba International Congress Center in Tsukuba, Japan. His presentation, titled “Fully Automated Femoral Neck-Shaft Angle Measurement Based on Keypoint Detection,” was supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phuriphong Suttisopapan.

Mr. Thanachai’s research drew considerable interest from the conference audience. His study applies artificial intelligence (AI) techniques, specifically keypoint detection, to automate the measurement of the femoral neck-shaft angle—a critical indicator in orthopedics and medical diagnostics. The system shows high potential for practical application in healthcare and clinical settings, offering efficiency, precision, and the possibility of widespread use in medical imaging analysis.

Receiving the Best Presentation Award marks a significant milestone that highlights the capabilities of KKU’s engineering students in presenting high-quality research on the international stage. This achievement not only enhances the reputation of the Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University, as a leading academic and research institution, but also demonstrates the faculty’s commitment to producing graduates with strong academic foundations, practical research skills, and the ability to innovate in response to real-world societal and industrial needs.

The award underscores the readiness of KKU students to participate confidently in global academic forums and reinforces the university’s role in fostering international research excellence.
