On May 4, 2025, the Faculty of Medicine and the International College of Khon Kaen University (KKUIC) held a press conference to celebrate the success of the “Water Fiesta Run” under the project KKUIC The Insider 11. The event was co-chaired by Asst. Prof. Sirimonporn Thipsingh, Dean of the International College, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pattarapong Makornwess, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, with many students, staff, and members of the press in attendance at the Dean’s Office, Faculty of Medicine, Srinagarind Hospital.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pattarapong Makornwess highlighted that the “KKUIC The Insider 11 Water Fiesta Run” showcased students’ capabilities in management and their strong sense of social responsibility—values vital to shaping the next generation. The event served as a bridge of compassion, where participants of all ages came together to donate vital medical equipment to healthcare facilities, particularly community hospitals, which play a crucial role in caring for people in remote areas.
“This donation is not just an act of charity; it is the gift of opportunity and hope—helping ensure better healthcare services for underserved communities. We are deeply grateful for the selflessness and commitment shown by our students. Their generosity reminds us that warmth and kindness still thrive in Thai society.”
Asst. Prof. Sirimonporn Thipsingh added that the Water Fiesta Run, organized by fourth-year students majoring in International Entrepreneurship and International Marketing at KKUIC, was aimed at raising awareness about stroke prevention through exercise, while also raising funds to purchase medical equipment for stroke patients at the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Srinagarind Hospital.
She remarked on the overwhelming response from people across the Northeast who traveled from various provinces to take part in the event, demonstrating a powerful unity and shared purpose: to bring help and hope to those in need.
“The true success of this initiative is not measured by the number of medical tools donated, but by the courage of students to step outside their comfort zones and lead impactful group projects. Their passion, hard work, and perseverance have been transformed into tangible support for patients and healthcare workers in community hospitals.”
“What we witnessed reflects the 3Ps of sustainability—Prosperity, People, and Planet. These students are learning to lead with empathy and responsibility toward society and the environment. We hope they grow into global citizens who care deeply for others.”
The “KKUIC The Insider 11 Water Fiesta Run” is more than a one-off charity event; it reflects a long-term vision to improve community health and wellness, particularly in areas lacking access to advanced medical equipment. It also serves as a source of inspiration for other organizations and communities to take part in strengthening Thailand’s healthcare system—spreading the spirit of giving and solidarity to future generations.
