Faculty of Engineering Partners with Tech Giant Interlink to Enhance Digital Infrastructure Skills and Prepare Next-Generation Engineers for the Digital Era

KHON KAEN, THAILAND — The Faculty of Engineering at Khon Kaen University recently held a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing ceremony with Interlink Communication Public Company Limited, a national leader in networking and cabling technology. The partnership aims to co-develop academic knowledge, advance technology, and elevate digital infrastructure skills for students, university personnel, and the general public. The ceremony took place on 26 May 2026 at Meeting Room 1, 8th Floor, Pienwijit Building, Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University.

At the signing ceremony, Associate Professor Ratchaphon Suntivarakorn, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, signed the agreement alongside Mr. Panuwat Malarat, Acting Northeastern Regional Director of Interlink Communication Public Company Limited. Associate Professor Chatchai Khunbua and executives from both organisations attended the event as official witnesses. This collaboration drives the university’s strategy of experiential learning and lifelong learning. Furthermore, it focuses on equipping students with practical “ready-to-work” attributes through hands-on workshops conducted by expert engineers from Interlink, whilst offering professional internship and cooperative education opportunities in nationwide projects.

Associate Professor Suntivarakorn stated that this project supports the establishment of international-standard laboratories equipped with networking equipment and technology from globally recognised brands, including LINK AMERICAN and GERMAN RACK. These facilities will enable students to practice and experiment with authentic equipment in a laboratory environment. Additionally, the partnership will foster collaborative research and development in next-generation technologies, such as fibre optics, data communication, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and smart technology, to meet the demands of modern industrial sectors.

The Dean added that the initiative aims to elevate the skills of the digital workforce by focusing on non-degree short courses designed for upskilling and reskilling personnel, alumni, and the public. These programmes ensure that participants acquire competencies aligned with the current demands of the digital labor market. This collaboration with Interlink Communication Public Company Limited marks a significant milestone for the Faculty of Engineering at KKU in producing highly qualified engineers proficient in international networking standards, who are ready to drive national administrative innovation and sustainable technological development.

This strategic partnership underscores Khon Kaen University’s broader institutional mission to foster academic excellence, promote social contribution, and advance sustainable community development through strong industry-academic engagement. By bridging academic knowledge with corporate expertise, KKU continues to strengthen its role as a leading educational centre dedicated to technological innovation and human resource development for the digital economy.
