KKU and Chongqing Medical University Discuss Advancing Medical Cooperation to Enhance International Capabilities

On 17 April 2026, administrators from Khon Kaen University (KKU), led by Associate Professor Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University, met with representatives from Chongqing Medical University, People’s Republic of China, to discuss academic cooperation. The KKU delegation included Assistant Professor Acharawan Topark-Ngarm, Ph.D., Assistant to the President for International Affairs; Assistant Professor Uthaiwan Danwiwat, Ph.D., Director of the Confucius Institute at Khon Kaen University; along with deans and faculty members from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Education.

During the consultative meeting, both institutions explored a diverse range of collaborative initiatives. The primary focus remained on medical science, pharmaceutical sciences, and foreign languages. The discussions covered student and faculty exchanges, joint research development, and the enhancement of foreign language proficiency to support medical education in an international context.

Chongqing Medical University is recognised as a premier health sciences institution in the People’s Republic of China, particularly renowned for its expertise in clinical research and innovation. Similarly, Khon Kaen University is a leader in medicine and public health within the ASEAN region, complemented by robust programmes in the humanities and social sciences.

This prospective collaboration represents a strategic synergy of both universities’ core competencies. By integrating high-level medical training with cross-cultural and linguistic expertise, the partnership aims to cultivate healthcare professionals who are uniquely equipped to excel in the global healthcare system.
