KKU Faculty of Agriculture Welcomes High School Science Camp Students

KHON KAEN – The Faculty of Agriculture at Khon Kaen University (KKU) hosted a group of 100 students and teachers from the 18th Science Camp Project for Science Classrooms in University-Affiliated Schools (SCiUS) on April 2. The visit was organized to provide students from across Thailand with hands-on learning experiences in modern agriculture and technology.

The visit began at the faculty’s Fisheries Division, where students explored the principles of sustainable aquaculture. Kampol Thaiso, the division manager, delivered a presentation on water-recirculating systems and low-water fishing techniques, emphasising efficiency and environmental stewardship. Following the lecture, KKU fisheries students led the high schoolers through various interactive learning stations, providing practical demonstrations and peer-to-peer knowledge sharing.

Following this, the group proceeded to the Industrial Insects Division for a session on the cultivation and use of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) as a protein source. Dr. Chutinan Chusai, the division manager, explained the process and led a tour of the facility, which utilizes AI technology in its insect-rearing system. The visiting students also participated in a practical workshop on cricket setting to deepen their understanding.

The primary objective of this field trip was to bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world application. By exposing students to cutting-edge agricultural technology, KKU aims to inspire the next generation of researchers and entrepreneurs to pursue future studies and innovation in the field of agricultural science.
