The project fosters a culture of generosity by allowing staff to share homegrown fruits and vegetables, easing financial burdens amidst economic challenges.

KHON KAEN, THAILAND – On 30 March 2026, amid the continuously rising cost of living, the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies at Khon Kaen University launched the “IS Pun Suk” project. This initiative has transformed a common area into a “Pun Suk Corner,” where staff can share homegrown vegetables and fruits. The project aims to reduce household expenses, cultivate an organisational culture of generosity, and is set to be expanded to support students in the future.
The atmosphere at the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies was filled with warmth and smiles during the launch of the “IS Pun Suk” project. The concept reimagines an unused central space as a sharing point for agricultural produce, including chillies, limes, holy basil, bananas, mangoes, and other vegetables grown by staff in their own gardens.

Mr. Chakkawan Glebbua, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, remarked, “This project stemmed from a simple idea conceived by a small group of staff who wanted to share their homegrown produce with colleagues affected by soaring prices. We realised that many people had surplus produce from their gardens, which led to the idea of sharing what we have with others. This is a way to use resources effectively and build a sense of community.”
The initiative has been warmly received by personnel throughout the faculty, who have consistently kept the “Pun Suk Corner” well-stocked. Following this initial success, the faculty’s administration plans to extend the project to include students, another group directly impacted by the high cost of living. A clear system will be developed to enable students to participate as both contributors and recipients, thereby creating a sustainable ecosystem of sharing throughout the organisation.
