KHON KAEN – The Computer Science program at Khon Kaen University (KKU) has been ranked third in Thailand by the SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) for 2026.
In the global rankings for the field of Computer Science, KKU placed 1,799th worldwide and 387th in Asia.
The SCImago Institutions Rankings is an internationally recognized system that evaluates research and academic institutions based on three primary factors: research performance, innovation output, and societal impact.
KKU’s College of Computing stated that its focus is on producing graduates and research that align with both university policy and national development goals. Key areas of emphasis include Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, Cybersecurity, and Advanced Computing. The college also prioritizes integrating computer science with practical applications to drive societal progress.
In its announcement, the college expressed its goal of becoming a technology hub for the ASEAN region. It thanked its faculty and students for their strong collaboration, which led to this international recognition, and affirmed its commitment to using computer science to contribute to national and social development in a rapidly changing technological landscape.
