The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University, hosted the “Happy Chinese New Year: Guangxi Flavors and Zhuang Charm” event to celebrate the Lunar New Year and promote Chinese language and culture among staff and students.
The event, held on 11 February 2026 in Room 3218 of the HS03 Building, was a collaboration between the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Khon Kaen and Khon Kaen University.
The opening ceremony was honoured by the presence of Assistant Professor Acharawan Topark-Ngarm, Assistant to the President for International Affairs, who delivered the opening speech. Associate Professor Orathai Piayura, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, gave a warm welcome address, while Ms. Qin Xiaoyan, Director of the Library of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, explained the objectives of the event.
The atmosphere was lively, enjoyable, and educational. Students immersed themselves in the culture of Guangxi and the Zhuang people through six activity stations: XR Experience: Explore the Tang Silk Road; Feature Cultural and Creative Products & Book Exhibition; Zhuang Broadcast Exhibition & Experience; Tea Art Showcasing and Tea Tasting; Special Stamp Collection; and Woodblock Printing Experience.
Participants, particularly students, gained knowledge of the history of the Silk Road, ethnic culture, and the local wisdom of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The hands-on activities provided a valuable cross-cultural learning experience. On this occasion, the delegation and the Director from the Library of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region also visited Khon Kaen University’s main library to discuss future library development and academic collaboration.
This event marks another significant step in fostering the strong relationship between Thailand and the People’s Republic of China, reinforcing Khon Kaen University’s role as a centre for learning, exchange, and the sustainable promotion of mutual understanding between Thai and Chinese cultures.
