kkUVolts Advances Collaboration with Military Battery Plant, Strengthening National Energy Industry and Security

On Friday, 6 February 2026, the Khon Kaen University Battery and Modern Energy Factory (kkUVolts), led by Prof. Thidarut Boonmars, D.V.M., Ph.D., Vice President for Enterprise and Societal Sustainability, together with Associate Professor Nongluk Mitthong, Director of the Facility, and their delegation, visited the Military Battery Plant, Department of Military Industry, to discuss collaboration and exchange knowledge and experiences in battery technology.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Group Captain(Gp.Capt.) Bowornsak Wisetrochana, Director of the Military Battery Plant, and his team. They engaged in discussions on the operational direction and future collaboration between the two organisations.

The discussions focused on the development, design, and testing of batteries suitable for various applications, specifically addressing performance, safety, and durability. Key areas included planning for real-world usage testing, developing strategies to meet user needs, and systematically preparing for industrial-scale manufacturing.

This collaboration between Khon Kaen University, through the kkUVolts factory, and the Military Battery Plant marks a significant step in elevating Thailand’s potential in battery technology. It helps reinforce national energy security, supports self-reliance within the energy industry, and lays a sustainable foundation for long-term Thai energy innovation development.

These operations align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly: SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), achieved through the development of efficient and safe battery technology; SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), by scaling up research for practical use and industrial production; and SDG 13 (Climate Action), reflecting the university’s role in driving knowledge and innovation to create environmentally friendly energy systems for the nation’s future.
