KKU Officially Launches Economics Association to Build Professional and Social Networks

Khon Kaen – On 26 January 2026, the Khon Kaen Provincial Registrar approved the official registration of the “Khon Kaen University Economics Association.” This association will serve as a central organisation to coordinate and strengthen positive relationships among alumni, faculty members, staff, and current students. Its headquarters is located on the first floor of the Faculty of Economics building at Khon Kaen University (KKU).

The Khon Kaen University Economics Association was established to connect the network of alumni and stakeholders. Its objectives include fostering relationships and cooperation among members, enhancing the prestige and academic excellence of the Faculty of Economics, promoting professional development, supporting current students, creating collaborative networks for social and economic advancement, and conducting sustainable public service activities based on moral and ethical principles.

 

Associate Professor Sumeth Kaenmani, President of the Khon Kaen University Economics Association, expressed his delight: “On behalf of the founding executive committee, I extend congratulations and pride that the Khon Kaen University Economics Association has been officially registered. The establishment of this association marks a crucial step in connecting economic knowledge with multidisciplinary fields, as well as strengthening the networks of alumni, faculty, staff, and students. Together, we will drive the Faculty of Economics toward excellence and recognition at both national and international levels.”

The Association President further stated, “The Association’s core missions are to promote the professional advancement of its members, support the readiness of students for employment and their role as good citizens, and build collaborative networks with public, private, and civil society organisations for sustainable economic and social development. This also includes organising public service, creative, and recreational activities that foster strong relationships among members. Crucially, the Association will operate under principles of morality, ethics, and transparency. As a non-profit organisation, it maintains neutrality and avoids affiliation with any political party to preserve its credibility in the public eye.”

Associate Professor Suthin Wianwiwat, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Khon Kaen University, commented: “The Faculty of Economics is pleased and fully supportive of the establishment of the Khon Kaen University Economics Association. The Association will be a vital mechanism for linking alumni with the Faculty, generating opportunities for knowledge and experience exchange, allowing current students to learn from successful professionals, and collaboratively developing the Faculty toward sustainable progress. A strong alumni association is a key factor in elevating the quality of education and the reputation of the Faculty to achieve widespread recognition.”

The Dean also added, “The Faculty is prepared to support and collaborate with the Association on various activities beneficial to both members and society, including academic seminars, professional skill development, business networking, and social volunteer activities. We are confident that the Association will be a significant driving force in building pride, growing, and strengthening the Modindaeng Economics family in the future.”

The Khon Kaen University Economics Association has appointed a founding executive committee comprising distinguished experts from various professional fields. Associate Professor Sumeth Kaenmani serves as President, alongside committee members with extensive experience and expertise, tasked with steering the Association to achieve its objectives and genuinely benefit its members and society.

Assistant Professor Praset Wijitnopharat, Associate Dean for Research, Innovation, Academic Services, and Corporate Communications at the Faculty of Economics, stated, “The formation of the Association is a significant step in building the image and reputation of the Faculty of Economics for widespread recognition. The Association will serve as a communication channel to publicise the achievements of successful alumni in various careers, which will inspire new generations of students and enhance the credibility of the Faculty among the public and other academic institutions. We sincerely hope that all alumni will continue to show interest and support for the Association.”

The Khon Kaen University Economics Association has clear plans for implementing various activities, such as organising annual alumni gatherings, hosting specialised seminars and lectures by qualified speakers, supporting scholarships and student development, running volunteer activities for society, creating business networks and employment opportunities for members, and disseminating economic news and knowledge through various media channels.

The Association invites all Khon Kaen University Faculty of Economics alumni, faculty members, staff, and interested individuals to apply for membership and become part of strengthening the Modindaeng Economics network.
