23 December 2025 – The College of Computing, Khon Kaen University (KKU), led by Associate Professor Sirapat Chiewchanwattana, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Computing, welcomed a delegation of senior executives from Eastern International University (EIU), Vietnam. The delegation was led by Mr. Nguyễn Tấn Lợi (Chairman) and Dr. Ngô Minh Đức (President). The visit focused on discussing academic and research collaboration. The KKU College of Computing executives and faculty members hosted the meeting at the Vithayaviphas 3 Conference Room, College of Computing, Khon Kaen University.

The discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation in developing high-level technology personnel, which is currently in high demand in the labour market. EIU plans to continuously send staff and students for postgraduate studies at the College of Computing. Concurrently, EIU extended an invitation to expert faculty members from the College of Computing to travel to EIU for academic exchange and joint teaching to strengthen teaching standards and research capabilities.

Furthermore, the two institutions are preparing to launch joint research projects in 2026. A key feature of this initiative is connecting research topics directly with projects spearheaded by Becamex, a leading infrastructure developer in Vietnam. This approach ensures that research outputs can be practically applied to solve real-world commercial problems. EIU also offered internship opportunities in Vietnam to KKU College of Computing students at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Students will gain practical experience by working on real-world projects alongside professional teams in the industrial sector, providing them with international work experience and preparing them to become high-quality global professionals.

The meeting concluded with an Experience Sharing Session involving four EIU staff members who are currently pursuing doctoral degrees in Computer Science and Information Technology at the KKU College of Computing. They shared their experiences regarding their studies and life in Thailand, reflecting the strong relationship between the two institutions. This partnership marks a significant step towards driving academic excellence and digital innovation in the ASEAN region.
