Science Faculty Lecturer and Students Win Award for AI Chatbot Innovation

A team from the Faculty of Science has won the 2nd Runner-up prize at the InnoTech Show&Share 2025 poster competition for their intelligent chatbot project. The event was organized by Khon Kaen University’s Learning and Teaching Innovation Center (LTIC) on August 22, 2025.

The winning project, “StatsGenie: A Chatbot for Smarter Service,” was developed by Dr. Pichaya Wiratchotisatian, a lecturer in the Statistics program, along with students Tawan Baolorpet and Pattaratorn Konmanee. The team received a cash prize of 2,000 baht for their achievement.

StatsGenie is an AI-powered chatbot designed to reduce the workload of administrative staff by answering frequently asked questions, thereby improving information access for students and the general public. The chatbot is implemented on the Statistics program’s official website.

A key feature of the innovation is its hybrid system, which combines Rule-Based logic with Generative AI. This dual approach ensures that the chatbot delivers information that is both reliable and accurately tailored to user needs. The project was recognized as an excellent example of applying statistical knowledge and modern technology to solve practical problems and improve service efficiency.
