This training program is a strategic collaboration between the Faculty of Nursing and the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The initiative aims to enhance the knowledge, skills, and standards of maternal and newborn care among midwives in Lao PDR.
The 26-day program, running from June 2 to 27, 2025, features a series of lectures and experience-sharing sessions led by expert faculty from Khon Kaen University and partner institutions. These include Health Promotion Center Region 7, Khon Kaen Hospital, Srinagarind Hospital, and Chum Phae Hospital.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ampornpan emphasized that this initiative marks a vital step toward raising maternal and child healthcare standards across the ASEAN region, particularly in reducing maternal and neonatal mortality rates. This aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promotes long-term international cooperation.
