According to the results of the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject 2025 in the field of Computer Science, Khon Kaen University was ranked overall in the range of 601-800 in the world and 3rd in Thailand, along with Mahidol University and King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi. It also ranks 1st in the country in Research Quality, which is one of the important criteria used to assess the potential of world-class educational institutions, reflecting Khon Kaen University's vision in aiming to be “World-class research and development universities” This ranking is a ranking of universities by specialization.
